US President Donald Trump sparked controversy on social media after he appeared to take a solid gold gavel with him following the Peace Council meeting.

In the video, Trump is seen striking the gavel to signal the end of the meeting, then shaking hands with Vice President JD Vance while holding the gavel in his other hand and saying, “I think we’ll take this with us.”

To the tune of the song Y.M.C.A., which is frequently played at Trump’s campaign events and dinners, the US president greeted leaders of member countries while still holding the gavel.

Social media users reacted sarcastically. One person commented, “This is unbelievable, Trump is a thief. Today at the Peace Conference, he noticed the gavel was made of pure gold, so he took it and boarded the plane with it.”

Another wrote, “President Trump did not leave the golden gavel behind when he left. Solid gold is not something you can miss.”
